Anthony Bourdain: Paula Deen’s Fans ‘Couldn’t Spell Her Last Name’
In a refreshing twist of fate this week at the roast of GQ food critic Alan Richman, Anthony Bourdain did not go after Paula Deen in his intricate and overarching web of insults. Instead, he targeted her fans, who have been sending him some not-so-nice love notes.
Said Bourdain of the Queen of Butter’s following, “Most of them couldn’t spell her last name. It’s only four letters in it. It’s scary. I’ve saved some of the mail in case I go missing.”
Well, thankfully for us and everyone else trying to keep Bourdain alive, most of the publications attending the roast and reporting this story probably use words too big for Paw-luh fans to follow along with, so we doubt they’ll come across this dig.
He exercised a bit more restraint when referring to known-enemy Sandra Lee, who is currently dating Governor Cuomo.
“I don’t think much of her cooking, but a tough lady…impressive, and I think, scary woman,” he acknowledged, admitting, “I don’t want to get audited.”
Cue nervous laughter.
