Tonight, Eat Dinner At Emeril Lagasse, David Burke & Mario Batali Restaurants For A Good Cause

You know that delicious spaghettini you saw on Andrew Zimmern’s website you were planning to make tonight for dinner? Save it for tomorrow. It’s a good day to eat out.

Today is National Dine Out Day, which pretty much sounds like the best national holiday ever, and it might be. For all of June 19th (that’s today, if this week’s been taking its toll on you), participating restaurants across the country will donate anywhere from 15 to 50 percent of sales to the New Jersey Hurricane Relief Fund.

The fund supports the rebuilding and recovery of areas affected by Hurricane Sandy, and is chaired by The first lady of NJ, Mary Pat Christie. She asked chef friend David Burke to join the effort, but he’s not the only one throwing his spatula in for the cause. Emeril Lagasse tweeted that Emeril’s Delmonico, NOLA Restaurant, and Emeril’s Italian Table in New Orleans, along with Burgers and More and Emeril’s Chop House in Bethlehem, PA will all be participating. Bobby Flay’s burger joint, Bobby’s Burger Palace, will also be donating proceeds at locations throughout the country.

While Christie will be visiting a variety of the participating restaurants in the New York City and Mercer County areas, only one Mario Batali was lucky enough to snag a lunch date:

So follow in the footsteps of Batali’s bright orange Crocs and splurge for dinner out. While you’re filling your growling stomach, it might feel good to know that you’re helping to fill some one else’s, too. Find a full list of participating restaurants here.
