Brooklyn is Getting a Breaking Bad-Inspired Coffee Shop

Dennis Kozan of Munich Germany opened a Breaking Bad-inspired coffee shop in Istanbul about a year ago called Walter’s, and now he’s opening up shop in Brooklyn.

We’ll give you a minute.

Historically, themed restaurants and bars don’t do well. The “Stay Classy New York” hype has certainly died down. But, according to Grub Street, it’s very, very important to Kozan that he distinguish between a themed coffee shop and an inspired one. How very Brooklyn of him.

In case you didn’t know, it’s Friday! #walterscoffee

Right. Totally not  a theme. What he hopes is that because he’s emphasizing third-wave coffee making techniques, he’ll be able to bring people in for the novelty but convert them into regulars with his product. If the coffee is great, people will take it seriously. He also plans to offer customers a place with great seating, WiFi, and outlets so that they can sit all day and work or hang out.

The inspiration comes from a scene in the show where Walter White and Gail, his assistant talk about the chemistry that goes into the perfect cup of coffee.

Kozan plans to open Walter’s in Brooklyn by the end of the summer in Williamsburg near the Brooklyn Bowl. The space would be 2,100 square feet and includes a rooftop. He also is set to open a location in Dubai sooner than that.

Guess we’ll see you all at Walter’s come the end of the summer!
