Buddy Valastro Serves Giant Tank Cake For Army’s Birthday
Given how he tried to apologize to Carmen Carrera, what did Buddy Valastro do to piss off the United States Army? Because whatever it was, he made up for it the only way he knew how: through the language of Cake. (Vanilla means “Please forgive me,” chocolate means “I love you passionately,” and red velvet means “Do naughty things to me with a wire whisk and an icing bag, you dirty, dirty baker.”)
Or it could have just been the Army’s 237th birthday today and he decided to “GO BIG OR GO HOME, BABY! This is the ARMY!”
The festivities in Times Square featured a “Birthday Cake Cutting Ceremony” with General Ray Odierno, Chief of Staff of the US Army, as well as Buddy, cutting into an enormous yellow tank cake the size of a small car. In addition to providing the cake, Carlo’s Bakery also sent Official Army birthday cakes to soldiers serving in Afghanistan.
Not to be outdone, Georgetown Cupcakes, home of the inferior TLC cake show DC Cupcakes, made a tank out of fondant and rice cereal treats. JUST KIDDING, it was made of cupcakes. What else did you expect?
So hug your neighborhood member of our armed forces today and thank them for their services! Maybe give them a cake. Don’t forget, funfetti cake means “let’s pretend to be five again.”
