WATCH: Buddy Valastro Lays A Smackdown On Rachael Ray’s Baking Skills
Rachael Ray was very forward about her lack of baking prowess on her talk show today, which is why she brought in Cake Boss Buddy Valastro to help her demystify the red velvet cupcake. But Buddy didn’t go easy on Rachael by any means. He scolds her all the way from batter to frosting for rushing, failing to measure, and keeping a messy work station. And just when you think he bestows a compliment upon her piping skills, he initiates a frosting race, which Rach, of course, miserably loses.
For tips on how not to bake, watch Rachael in the clips below! (We do, however, appreciate Buddy’s nugget on using cold butter out the gate for frosting. Softening is a real bitch.)

I had the chance to try a few cupcakes from his bakery about a year ago, and I was really left unimpressed. The frosting was amazing: each flavor was distinct, surprising and truly the best I’d ever had–genius. The actual cupcakes, however, were salty and dry. Get your own kitchen in order before you pick on the skills of others, man, especially when it is your forte!
While I have never had one of Buddy’s cakes I was left unimpressed by any of his shows. I prefer Ace of Cakes w/Duff and Company. They seem to be having fun at work and the cakes look fabulous. But KWDragon is correct Buddy shouldn’t be telling others how to do things, he was a guest on her show, and a guest NEVER disses the host.
