Summer, the season, is scheduled to pass away on September 23 after a short battle with candy corn and the color orange. And because summer is the oysters-rosé-deck-burgers portion of the year, it gets prolonged goodbyes, especially from celebrity chefs and top food personalities who have access to the best of those summer treats…and to Instagram.

Dominique Ansel, inventor of pastries from heaven, ate this summer bread pudding in East Hampton, which is the most summery summer finale someone on the east coast can have. He’s also taking pre-orders for the October Cronut®

Bon Appétit Editor-In-Chief Adam Rapoport is making pesto on a loop, and he thinks we should all be doing the same. Pesto is a summer staple, like board shorts and heat, and it will be missed.

The Instagram feed of one Giada DeLaurentiis is a fond farewell to summer with a moment of reflection on pea salad.

Whenever you think you “don’t have the time,” consider that Emeril Lagasse made these muffins for his kid’s back-to-school bake sale.

Marcus Samuelsson, owner of Red Rooster and Streetbird Rotisserie, would like us to celebrate the end of summer with him at his new restaurant in Bermuda, and sure, I’ll go, what time?

A few chefs are also organizing Labor Day specials and events to toast the end of the season. Brooks Headley and Superiority Burger are offering a deal on their now-famous veggie burgers.

Top Chef alum Sam Talbot is having a Backyard Pignic at his Maine restaurant.

If you can’t make it to those, crank the AC (’cause it’s still hot), pour a pumpkin beer, and cheers to the end.
