‘Cheater’ Bobby Flay Trolled by Airplane at Hollywood Walk of Fame

An airplane flying a banner reading “CHEATER” trolled Bobby Flay from above yesterday while the celebrity chef accepted a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame amidst his divorce from actress Stephanie March. Flay, who played a fictionalized version of himself on Entourage and in the 2003 TV movie Eddie’s Milion Dollar Cook-Off, as well as appeared in an episode of his wife’s series, Law & Order SVU, was not the most deserving choice for the honor, as LA Weekly‘s Besha Rodell recently pointed out:

The problem is, there are so many TV chefs out there who are more culturally relevant, more Hollywood (both in terms of location and life choices), more … interesting than Bobby Flay.

Here’s a brief list of chefs we think should get a star before Bobby Flay:

Wolfgang Puck, because he has actually contributed to the culture of eating in Hollywood, has fed all its real stars, has a restaurant here (it’s pretty good, apparently) and was a great TV chef himself.

Julia Child, because she invented TV chefs.

Emeril Lagasse, because he invented the thing that Bobby Flay became.

Guy Fieri, because that would be hilarious.

Anthony Bourdain, because that would be more hilarious (because he would hate it so much).

Nigella Lawson, because she’s beautiful and amazing and glamorous and could be an actual movie star.

Part of Rodell’s argument is that Flay just isn’t that interesting, but that’s changed in recent weeks, since it’s been discovered Flay may have had an affair with a Bar Americain employee, Stephanie March may have developed the recipes for Bolo, and Flay sold a racehorse he gifted March. Also, this happened.

Per E! Online:

But during his speech, fans happened to take notice of the green prop plane flying overhead, which carried a banner that read “cheater.” An eyewitness says the plane appeared just as Flay took the stage and continued to circle the area until the cookbook author was finished speaking.

Drama!

Entourage, the movie, opens in theaters today.
