A Coney Island Pizza Fanatic Is Ganking All Of Governor’s Hurricane Sandy Donations

San Francisco chef Daniel Patterson had the best of intentions when raising a whopping $5000 for Hurricane Sandy relief for a restaurant clear across the country. He intended to donate the sum — all profits from a Hurricane Sandy benefit dinner held on December 3rd — to Brooklyn restaurant Governor, which got huge attention after the storm’s crippling damage. Unfortunately, Gov has since announced that it won’t be reopening, and so now Patterson is stuck with $5K burning a hole in his pocket.

Enter Allison Robicelli, a life-time patron of famous Coney Island pizzeria Totonno’s. She’s been quite crafty in spotting chefs around the country looking to donate money to Governor, and talking them into reallocating their funds to Totonno’s.

What’s even better is that Robicelli didn’t even like Coney Island as a kid. She wrote of her beloved Totonno’s:

“My grandmother would take me on the bus down to Coney for pizza when I was a kid, like her dad took her back in the 20s (he used to eat there regularly as an employee of the original Luna Park)…To be blunt, Coney SUCKED when I was a kid in the ’80s. Did any of us have an issue with getting mugged or worse for pizza? No. That’s how important Totonno’s is.”

Someone get this woman her Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Certification.
