WATCH: Daniel Boulud Dishes On His First S&M Club To Tom Colicchio On Hooked Up
Daniel Boulud joined Tom Colicchio on the open seas for the latest episode of his YouTube show Hooked Up, in which they ventured to Miami together and made swift ceviche out of a few mackerel they caught. We spoke to Daniel last week about filming the episode, but we finally have the nitty gritty details, like the recounting of his first S&M club experience?! Oh, to have cheffed in New York in the ’80s.
“Hellfire was my first foray into an S&M club, which was my last, too. But that was very crazy,” he chuckled. “You get into the club, there were people hanging on ropes, and getting whipped, and all that. You were like, ‘Whoa, what’s going on here?’”
On Gaga vs Madonna:
“Madonna. I was there in the ’80s when she was playing little clubs in New York.”
On Sarcozy vs. Obama: Sarcozy gave him a Légion d’honneur; Obama let him dig a garden. You decide.
On the greatest young chef in America:
“Grant Achatz. For me, Grant is a mind unto his own. He’s so creative and so driven and so focused with making food playful, but very intelligent, as well.”
