Rejoice, rejoice: the king of pork buns is deciding to reign over fried chicken as well. And all was good, as we think they say in the Bible.
David Chang dropped his announcement at this year’s SXSW keynote address, reports Eater. The restaurant will be called Fuku and take over the former digs at Momofuku Ko in Manhattan.

And uh, it sounds freaking delicious. From Eater:
He cites both Chick-Fil-A and In-N-Out as inspiration, noting that the first meal he had when he got into Austin was Chick-Fil-A. “We thought about taking both and merging them into one sandwich,” he says. “No one ever thought to do that. [What if you could] ask for spicy chicken Animal-style?”
Let’s just ponder what a fried chicken sandwich Animal-style would really look like, and weep with joy. Guess that explains all the experiments with “ramen fried chicken.”
Eater also says there is a mobile app similar to Taco Bell’s in development as well, which we can’t really wrap our brains around but WHO CARES FRIED CHICKEN.
No word yet on Fuku’s timeline to open; but, evidently, Chang dropped some other nuggets of wisdom while everyone at SXSW drooled over fried chicken.
