David Chang’s Newest Restaurant is Opening, But You Can’t Go

davidchang-torontoDavid Chang has started to roll out his newest venture, Ando. It’s a delivery-only restaurant with a centralized kitchen and a menu with items that are designed to travel well. It’s like Maple, which is also backed by Chang, except that this is a Momofuku restaurant.

The food can be ordered through an app, available in the app store now, but the delivery radius is sill pretty small (Midtown East only) for now. Uber Rush will be handling the deliveries. Those who put their name on the list in advance got an email this morning with a promo code to download the app, and for those who didn’t, there’s a waiting list.

Menu offerings include a fried chicken box, cheesesteak, and Orangina so if you haven’t had one of those in years today is your lucky day. For Chang, Ando is the best of both worlds. Instead of getting a few different seatings per night, and having to worry about turning tables and wash dishes, he can serve a much higher number of customers. He also won’t have to pay as large of a staff, or as much rent, since he can put the kitchen anywhere without having to worry about “location, location location.”

For customers, they can eat what they want, when they want, with their own wine without having to see people or put on pants. They can also have an experience with restaurant-quality food without having to take the time to actually go to a restaurant. It’s great for busy people.

Have you tried Ando yet? Do you want to? Let us know in the comments!
