Paul Qui’s East Side King Opens First Brick-And-Mortar Location

While working on opening his own flagship restaurant in Austin, Top Chef: Texas winner and James Beard Best Chef: Southwest Paul Qui has successfully opened the first brick-and-mortar location of his three-trailer food truck fleet East Side King. He co-founded the Asian street food truck with Moto Utsunomiya, but it’s now running its first stationary kitchen out of Hole in the Wall, a one-time arcade restaurant now known for its live music scene.
In turn, Hole in the Wall has started keeping Japanese beers on tap, as well as serving sake and shochu to complement East Side King’s cuisine, which will feature a “greatest hits” menu from the food truck’s repertoire (ESK Instant Ramen, anyone?).
Says Paul of the opening, “I hope that one day East Side King will be a lasting part of Austin’s culture, just like Hole in the Wall has been an Austin institution for decades.”
East Side King begins service at Hole in the Wall on December 4th.
