After a morning full of Paula Deen clips, we thought you might need a palate cleanser. Or a juice cleanse. Or a master cleanse. Well, you’ll have to settle for some nice, clean summer salads. Emeril Lagasse rather refreshingly stepped away from the grill for a Memorial Day party prep segment on Good Morning America this AM. He shows off some colorful, super-simple, and very tasty-looking dishes using ingredients that will be perfectly in-season around Memorial Day.

Check out his quartet of salads for some summer inspiration and try to ignore his painfully awkward presentational style. He didn’t win any seasons of Food Network Star. But it’s okay. Food porn starring avocado and hearts of palm makes up for Emeril’s TV personality.
