Eric Ripert Leaving Westend Bistro In Washington, DC To Work On Secret New York Project
Sad news for people in DC who really, really, really, really, really like Eric Ripert: he’s taking his name off the marquee at the Ritz-Carlton’s Westend Bistro. But don’t worry, DC; it’s not you, it’s him.
Ripert tells Washington Post critic Tom Sietsema that the only reason he’s leaving the restaurant, which he’s been involved with over the past five years, is because his life has gotten way too packed with projects — including a concept that he’s thinking about building in New York City. It’s not going to be a remake of Le Bernardin, though: “There will always be only one Le Bernardin,” he insists.
The Westend Bistro by Eric Ripert becomes The Westend Bistro on January 1st.
