Fat Duck Chefs Tragically Killed In Hong Kong Car Crash
Sky News reports that two chefs from Heston Blumenthal’s three-Michelin-starred restaurant The Fat Duck were recently killed in an auto accident in Hong Kong.
Jorge Ivan Arrango Herrera and Carl Magnus Lindgren, both senior chefs at The Fat Duck, were reportedly in a traffic accident that involved their taxicab and two double decker buses, injuring 56 and killing three. A 57-year-old bus driver was arrested for vehicular manslaughter and endangering drivers.
A restaurant spokeswoman confirmed their deaths in a statement: “They were both senior members and great and dear friends. Two uniquely talented young chefs that were loved by everyone who worked with them. They will be sadly and deeply missed.”
As the news spread, tributes from renowned chefs from around the world began appearing on Twitter, and their feelings are best summed up by Rene Redzepi: ”Unimaginable – your chefs are your family. Condolences to the families, Heston & team.”
