Geoffrey Zakarian Takes Over As Culinary Director Of The Plaza Hotel
Season 4 Next Iron Chef winner and chef/owner of The National and The Lambs Club, Geoffrey Zakarian may have just added the swankest line yet to his resume. According to The New York Times, he’s been appointed the Culinary Director of The Plaza Hotel.
“I want to leave as much as we can in place, the way they do with the great old restaurants in Paris,” he said of the daunting task ahead of him, overhauling Palm Court and the Oak Room.
Zakarian will also supervise food and beverage for the Oak Bar, Rose Club, Champagne Bar, and room service, but no word on whether he’ll have a finger in the Todd English Food Hall at The Plaza pie. (We know, we were secretly hoping to report stories about Geoffrey Zakarian bossing around Todd English, too.)
The National is also nestled inside the Benjamin Hotel, so Geoffrey’s no stranger to slumming it on the hotel restaurant scene. We’re sure he’ll make lots of gastro-millionaires very happy.
