Gordon Ramsay Cancels Kitchen Nightmares

Today, Gordon Ramsay announced the end of a celebrity chef era: Kitchen Nightmares, the show that launched his media career and made him a worldwide icon, is filming its last episodes.

“I’m currently filming 4 new episodes, Costa Del Nightmares, for Channel 4 which will be my last,” he announced on his website. “It’s been a blast but it’s time to call it a day.”

A worldwide phenomenon, Kitchen Nightmares started as a television series in England in 2004 and soon expanded to “123 episodes, 12 seasons, shot across 2 continents, watched by tens of millions of people and sold to over 150 countries.” That show, along with the British version of Hell’s Kitchen, turned Ramsay into a bona fide television star and essentially sparked the current period of celebrity chef reality TV shows, especially the part with the Screaming Chef.

In his announcement, Ramsay also mentioned his favorite episodes, which inevitably included Amy’s Baking Company (RIP).

Fun fact: Gordon Ramsay has sworn 10,197 times throughout the series (damn), and, surprisingly, has only seen one mouse.
