Gordon Ramsay And David Beckham To Open Casual Mediterranean Restaurant Together In London

Like a retired gay couple (except vehemently straight and hyper manly) or really good straight friends (except unafraid to be affectionate in public), Gordon Ramsay and David Beckham have decided to open a Mediterranean restaurant together in London.

Though he teased it months ago, Ramsay finally announced that the project that he and Becks collaborated on would not be a ripoff of April Bloomfield’s Spotted Pig, but would be a completely new concept. “We’ve been working on the new site, which is near Borough Market, for the past couple of years,” he told industry site Caterer and Hotelkeeper, ”and the amazing large warehouse space will offer quality Mediterranean-influenced food with a daily changing menu.”

The restaurant will be called Union Street Cafe, which Danny Meyer should sue for if he’s feeling particularly litigious at the moment, and will open in September.

In other news, Gordon Ramsay Holdings (GRH) finally posted its first profitable year, signaling its emergence from a horrible recession-dealt blow. In fact, the opening of Union Street Cafe marks the first London opening for Ramsay since 2011. Please push the good karma and juju from that business recovery back to our sluggish economy, please and thank you.
