Gordon Ramsay Sued For Not Compensating Workers At Fat Cow
It’s the Sunday Class Action Lawsuit Hour! In today’s Class Action Lawsuit, Radar Online reports that many of Gordon Ramsay’s former employees are suing the management of the Fat Cow, one of el Gordo’s restaurants in Southern California, for “failure to pay minimum wage for hours worked, failure to provide meal periods, failure to pay overtime wages and more”.
The restaurant, located in the famous Grove Mall and subject of a legendarily bad review, was slammed with the suit from Jennifer Becerra, Montinique Dever, Andrea Bourke and Lauren Benge, former employees who claim that the allegations took place ever since the opening of the Fat Cow in August of 2012.
The details of the suit can be found here, but the takeaway is that it has nothing to do with Ramsay calling anyone a Fat Cow (which would be so easy for him to do), and everything to do with the waitstaff being overworked, undercompensated, and pressed into many, many illegal hours of work. We’re not sure which one is worse.
Ramsay and his spokespeople, for their part, told Radar that it had nothing to do with them: “We are aware there was a problem with previous management which has since been changed, but this is totally unacceptable if any truth to it.”
