WATCH: CNN Explains Heston Blumenthal’s Cooking With Wonka-esque Visuals
Though if you think about it, how could Heston Blumenthal not be Willy Wonka? He’s British and he turns food into whimsical, delicious performance art: seafood meant to be eaten while listening to an iPod-seashell! Fruits made of meat! Meats made of fruit! Snail porridge! Schnozzberries! (Okay, maybe not schnozzberries, but we bet that they’d taste like schnozzberries.)
In this video from CNN, he delves into the moment when he realized that he would devote his entire life to food (seriously: he claims that he’s slept twelve hours in the past week), and the world of pure imagination he lives in. The magic is totally amplified by the fact that in random moments, the video cuts to an inexplicable animation of a whimsical, trippy candy shop. We don’t know why, either. Still a fun watch, though!
