WATCH: Janette Desautel Preps For Celebrity Chef Status On Treme
Have you any idea what a pain in the ass it is to be a celebrity chef? Eddie Huang will tell you, or you could watch Chef Janette Desautel (Kim Dickens) on this week’s episode of Treme to see how a celebrity chef is born. Nonsense corporate training sessions, media training, awkward photo shoots, a peppy PR expert named Emily Chang? We know, right? Life is tough.
In preparation for opening her new, enormous restaurant with her big shot partner, Chef Desautel must go through all the corporate red rape and legal training she can stand. Translation, she can’t fire someone dramatically for giving her attitude like Gordon Ramsay can. Check out the clip below.
Then, she can’t even train the staff she’s not allowed to fire without pesky interruptions from “accomplished publicists” ten years her junior.
But it’s all in preparation for next week’s episode, which features her shooting a segment on The Today Show with Al Roker, complete with pep talk from Emeril Lagasse. Right, but when does she get to cook? Like, for patrons? Stay tuned to find out.
