Sometimes, when Jay Rayner isn’t busy eating and reviewing food, he’s off doing other types of journalism. On this specific occasion, he was sent by his editor to learn how to do the dance of the year with Korean rapper PSY.
Though Rayner finds Psy endlessly fascinating as the subject matter of the profile (which ran in Sunday’s Guardian in the UK), at some point he (like Britney Spears and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon before him) must learn how to Gangnam Style.
The good thing about Gangnam Style, PSY points out, is that it’s alright to look goofy while dancing it — in fact, it enhances the visual appeal of the dance.
Rayner’s verdict: “I hate my editor.”
