WATCH: Joey Chestnut Feeling ‘Not 100%’ Morning After Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest
Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest winners Joey “Jaws” Chestnut and Sonia “The Black Widow” Thomas rolled themselves on over to The Today Show this morning to pose with their winning hot dog mounds and give a post-game recap of their eventful day yesterday.
Joey admitted to feeling “not 100 percent” after downing 69 hot dogs in ten minutes — a new record, by the way.
Sonia came back from behind to win the women’s tourney with 36.75 hot dogs, and confessed that her biggest mistake was using the water next to the dogs for the customary bun-soaking trick. Because of the hot, humid day, and the cups that had been sitting out for god knows how long, the water was hot, which made consumption difficult.
“I made a big mistake. [The water was] super hot, like about 150-160 degrees hot, that’s why I sweat so much.”
Annnd, we’re experiencing gastrointestinal distress again.
