Last Call: Gail Simmons’ Magical Mary Poppins Bag

Tasting Table: Wanna travel like Gail Simmons? Now you can! Check out her travel bag essentials here. (Two kinds of snacks, one kind of makeup — our kind of travel bag.)

Variety: Carla Hall (and Clinton Kelly) landed on Variety’s Daytime TV Impact Honorees List, alongside some impressive TV heavyweights. See what making up a choreographed dance on air and then repeating it before all your segments together can accomplish?

Tasted: Another edition of Burger Lab with Richard Blais is out, and this one features an impressionist and a breakfast burger. Less annoying than Chocolate Rain. More annoying than the Sklar Brothers.

Grub Street: Okay, time for a nerdy extended metaphor. Imagine that Lidia Bastianich is Obi-Wan Kenobi, and she’s in a duel to the death with her padawan Mario Batali, AKA Anakin Skywalker, and they’re battling with tagliatelle-shaped lightsabers over the planet of Mustafar/Del Posto, only this time, it’s for a charity cookoff event, and Mario’s limbs won’t be burned off in a melodramatic climax. If only.

The New York Times: The times, they are a-changin’. You can tell, because Mark Bittman of all people wrote a feature-length article wherein he actually, begrudgingly admits that fast food can be both healthy and delicious. These are strange epochs in which we live.

TimeOut Kuala Lumpur: (Take a second for that source to sink in.) Aussie golden boy Curtis Stone admits that sometimes, being Australian doesn’t have benefits, especially when it comes to filming TV shows. “I’d approach people in the supermarket and I was new to America, so people would be like, ‘Sorry I’ve never heard of this show and I don’t know who you are and you’re asking to come to my house.” On behalf of America, we’re sorry, and please come over.
