Tonight In Food TV: Life After Top Chef Continues To Humiliate Jen Carroll
Are we the only ones who think Jennifer Carroll was cast on Life After Top Chef so that Bravo could relentlessly shame her for that outburst toward Tom Colicchio during her Top Chef: All-Stars exit? The dramatic moment was heavily recapped on last week’s series premiere, along with her sad account of how her mentor Eric Ripert disowned her after the fallout from the ordeal, but this week’s episode really seems to drive the point home.
Tonight, cameras continue to follow the chefs at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen. While Spike Mendelsohn gets to sit on a panel with Ming Tsai, Tim Love, and Jacques freakin’ Pepin discussing life as a TV chef, Jen Carroll sits glumly in the back of an audience at a Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons squab demo.
Jen insists she’s spoken to Tom on the phone several times since All-Stars and they’ve kissed and made up, but it seems awfully cruel to juxtapose Spike’s panel with her non-event. Especially considering Spike is a total clown and it’s completely insane that he’s sitting next to Jacques Pepin.
