WATCH Leah Chase Talk About Hurricane Katrina on Top Chef, We Dare You Not To Cry

On last night’s Top Chef: New Orleans, the cheftestants had to work in teams erecting food trucks around various Habitat for Humanity work sites which were rebuilding houses destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Oh, what’s that? You need tissues already? You don’t even know until you hear Quickfire judge Leah Chase’s account of losing everything in the storm at the age of 83 and then rebuilding her restaurant Dooky Chase again, anyway.

“I don’t know,” she said of pressure to leave the industry after the storm, “The pope quit, but I had to keep going, because there’s a lot of work to do in this city.”

You can check out the clip below. Bonus: Susan Spicer’s power bangs also make an appearance.
