LIVE: The James Beard Foundation Announces 2014 Award Nominees

Beginning at 10:30AM EST today, the James Beard Foundation will announce the nominees for the 2014 James Beard Awards in this fancy livestream straight from Chicago. The award ceremony itself for chef nominees will take place in New York City on May 5th, while the awards for Books, Broadcast & Journalism will be handed out in a ceremony on May 2nd. Stay tuned, and we’ll have a list of everyone up shortly!

Update (10:45AM EST): No, the livestream isn’t broken — the ceremony’s been delayed:

Update (10:59AM EST): And here we go! The VIP is Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who gives a touching tribute to the passed Charlie Trotter (and, more frivolously, is probably the reason the ceremony ran late).

11:05AM EST: JBF president Susan Ungaro continues with the Charlie Trotter and Chicago tributes.

11:10: This American Life gets a nomination in the Radio category — which makes Fred Armisen a JBF nominee.

11:13: The Mind of A Chef gets a nomination!

11:16: Mitchell Davis comes out to announce the Journalism nominees in 17 categories. That is a lot.

11:22: AW YEAH WE JUST GOT NOMINATED FOR A JAMES BEARD AWARD WHAT UPPPPPPPPPP

11:48: Okay, we’re done high-fiving everyone in the office, and we’ve just come back to the awards ceremony. We’re just gonna get a list up in a new post.
