Martha Stewart To Executive Produce Scripted Comedy Series For Fox
Remember that “operatic” scripted restaurant drama Gordon Ramsay is busy working on for NBC? Meet your competition: Martha Stewart is now set to executive produce a scripted comedy for Fox based on Jen Lancaster’s to-be-released book Tao of Martha (AKA Julie and Julia with Martha Stewart instead of Julia Child).
Martha snagged a guest spot last season on 2 Broke Girls, but she’ll be primarily behind the cameras on this venture (and in the recording studio — she’ll have a presence on the series in voiceover form).
“The Tao Of Martha centers on a highly disorganized, scattered former party girl who decides she needs to grow up after her husband leaves her because he can’t handle her chaotic lifestyle anymore. She decides to kill two birds with one stone: become a better role model for her daughter and write a new book about changing her life according to the ‘teachings’ of Martha Stewart.”
Martha described the series as “very funny, very hip, very apropos” on Twitter, adding, “Wish us luck!”
We’re shocked that Fox greenlit a show demonstrating how a recently divorced woman can become a better role model for her daughter with crafts. Shocked, we say.
