MasterChef Junior Winner and Dominique Ansel Made Cronuts Together

If this is (yet another) attempt to show the world how easy it is to make Cronuts at home, it may not have been the best idea to use boy genius/ winner of the first season of MasterChef Junior Alexander Weiss in it.

Nevertheless, there’s Dominique Ansel and Weiss bro-ing out in the most manly pastry chef-way, making Cronuts together. And who knew that Ansel was such a big fan of MasterChef Junior? “I was actually watching the show when Alexander was on then,” Ansel says in the video. “I don’t usually watch TV that much, but I got really, really excited. … I saw the passion he had. I watched the show to the end and I was very happy that he won.”

Again, Ansel tried to appeal to the home cooks who may not be all that enthused to make his difficult recipes at home (gotta sell those cookbooks, yo). In Ansel’s words (emphasis ours):

Don’t underestimate home cooks these days — look at Alexander, he can make macarons in less than an hour when he was only 12.”

Again, using Weiss may not be the best parameter of home cooks. Even Weiss admits Cronuts are “a lot harder than they look.” So there.
