McDonald’s Still Has 10 Million Pounds of Frozen, Unsold Mighty Wings

Earlier this year, McDonald’s took a chicken wing, smashed it with Thor’s Hammer (or ripped a few million more off the arms of caged birds), and sold it in their franchises as the Mighty Wing. They claimed it would be the Next Big Thing, pushed it heavily using sports stars and cool Millenials, and believed that they would secure a foothold in the cutthroat world of chicken restaurants.

According to the Wall Street Journal, that idea failed so miserably that the company’s been left with 10 million frozen Mighty Wings.

In order to deal with the overflow, McDonald’s is planning another promotion where they’re selling the wings at a lower price (because, seriously, who wants to pay $1 for one measly wing.) And why did the wing fail?

“Mighty Wings are proving once again that we can’t sell premium items in large numbers because we still have the Dollar Menu,” one franchisee said in the anonymous survey.

AGAIN. WHO THE HELL IN ANY AREA OF THE WORLD PAYS ONE DOLLAR FOR A SINGLE WING? WHO? WHO IS THAT CRUEL?

Stupid McD’s.

    Anybody who eats at Buffalo Boss, any Atomic Wings location, and a dozen other places in the NYC area that’s who.

    Tina Nguyen’s lack knowledge about NYC restaurants is comparable to her knowledge about Vietnamese food.

    McDonalds = Stupid?

    Tina Nguyen = Hack

    I think that is way harsh especially when you consider that McDonald’s reach is far larger than one small Island. And yeah, yeah, yeah, I know all about (and love) Manhattan being a born and bred New Yawka, but that doesn’t stop me from understanding that the world is far larger than “the city”.

    • You missed the point or maybe I didn’t make it clear.

      It’s not about NYC. It’s about Tina Nguyen taking a cheap shot at McDonald’s using all caps to ask who would pay $1 for one chicken wing, when all around her in NYC there are literally thousands that do so daily.

      That’s what makes her a hack.

      BTW

      What does that mean? The person paying 1$ for a chicken wing is cruel? The antecedent for “Who” in “Who is that cruel” is the person buying the wing in the first sentence, not the person selling the wing.

      Not only is Tina Nguyen a hack, but she’s a hack unable to formulate intelligible sentences.
