McDonald’s Still Has 10 Million Pounds of Frozen, Unsold Mighty Wings
Earlier this year, McDonald’s took a chicken wing, smashed it with Thor’s Hammer (or ripped a few million more off the arms of caged birds), and sold it in their franchises as the Mighty Wing. They claimed it would be the Next Big Thing, pushed it heavily using sports stars and cool Millenials, and believed that they would secure a foothold in the cutthroat world of chicken restaurants.
According to the Wall Street Journal, that idea failed so miserably that the company’s been left with 10 million frozen Mighty Wings.
In order to deal with the overflow, McDonald’s is planning another promotion where they’re selling the wings at a lower price (because, seriously, who wants to pay $1 for one measly wing.) And why did the wing fail?
“Mighty Wings are proving once again that we can’t sell premium items in large numbers because we still have the Dollar Menu,” one franchisee said in the anonymous survey.
AGAIN. WHO THE HELL IN ANY AREA OF THE WORLD PAYS ONE DOLLAR FOR A SINGLE WING? WHO? WHO IS THAT CRUEL?
