Michael Symon Reinvents Chip-Eating, Wishes For Hot Pickle Flavor

Let’s forget about the papal conclave for a second, because there’s a much more important domestic election going down right now which demands the attention of any American snacking in good faith: the Lay’s “Do Us a Flavor” contest, not at all embarrassingly endorsed by Michael Symon and Eva Longoria. America now has to decide whether Sriracha, Cheesy Garlic Bread, or Chicken & Waffles will be the brand’s newest chip flavor.

Serious Eats tapped Michael Symon for his favorite of the bunch and he revealed a totally earth-shattering secret to the proper consumption of the new flavors which we couldn’t possibly, in good faith, refrain from sharing with you.

“I’ve actually been eating the Chicken & Waffles chips with the Sriracha chips together, which is a lot of fun,” he dished. “The last time I did that was when Lay’s came out with that Pickle chip and I would eat it with the Salt & Vinegars.”

Mind. Blown. But you have to hurry and buy up all the Sriracha and Chicken & Waffles chips before the contest ends, a winner is declared, and the two losing flavors get pulled off the shelves.

And for the record, had Symon been involved in the flavor developing process, he would have elaborated on that pickle chip: “I’m a total pickle geek. I probably would have done Sweet Hot Pickle.”

  1. I tried the Sriracha flavor and was underwhelmed. It had the heat on the backside of the crunch, but it didn’t really have that nice Sriracha taste I wanted.

    Also, I can’t even find the other two flavors. Anyone know where (on the East Coast) I can find them?
