WATCH: Michelin Inspectors Don’t Get Fat

In an interview with HuffPost Live, Michelin Guide director Michael Ellis tried to disabuse viewers of the notion that being a Michelin inspector is a high-rolling fun time, 24/7/365. And, since we’ve been there, we can attest that eating really good food all the time can be a painful experience (especially if, as Ellis describes, one is forced to eat alone, as the anonymous Inspectors often do — “ten times a week”).

But hey, there’s an upside: Michelin Inspectors don’t get fat. “It’s funny, most of our inspectors are quite trim and svelte,” Ellis noted. “I think it’s an acquired type of living.”

At least there’s that, we guess — the way that Ellis describes it, it’s like a food version of The Long March.
