Mike Isabella Wins DC Magazine’s Chef Of The Year Award
Top Chef alum Mike Isabella has been named DC Magazine‘s best Chef of the Year for 2012. The magazine’s editor-in-chief announced the news on a local DC news show, Let’s Talk Live, in a preview of the annual restaurant issue.
Mike probably left a few heads scratching when he thanked the magazine on Twitter this morning, as neither his nor the other tweets mentioning the awards correctly linked to the magazine’s account. Furthermore, even after checking the mag’s official twitter and website, there is only a single mention of the awards themselves. The only confirmation of Mike’s honor that does exist — minus the issue when it finally hits newsstands — is the Let’s Talk Live interview with Karen Sommer Shalett, the editor-in-chief. She said that it was his trendsetting “small plates” meals at Graffiato and Bandolero that earned him recognition.
We’d like to congratulate Mike Isabella on his award, but hopefully next time he wins something there will be a bit more fanfare. Or, at the very least, some kind of printed statement.
