Moonshiners Star Launches Legal Moonshine Brand, Defeats The Purpose Of Moonshine
We don’t know if you knew, but moonshine is hot right now. Like, hotter than it is outside. The Discovery Channel series Moonshiners, in fact, leads its time slot in cable ratings. And, with that television success, like any self-respecting Real Housewife before him, Moonshiners star Tim Smith is branding his moonshine for commercial distribution.
The only problem with this intrepid display of entrepreneurship, of course, is that the whole point of moonshine is that it’s all hot and sexy because it’s illegal.
“South Carolina and Georgia right now is all that’s stepped up to the plate,” Smith told the New York Daily News of his distribution plans. “The other guys are a little bit unsure of what they want to do because I’m still listed as an outlaw.”
As for his other moonshine-selling competitors in the marketplace? (Because those also exist.)
“Mine is just a real smooth moonshine,” he defends. “That’s the only way I can explain it. I’ve tasted some of the other brands trying to figure out what they’re making and stuff like that. I’m not trying to put down nobody, don’t get me wrong. Everybody’s got their own business. But everybody I taste, that’s about what I throw away.”
