David Chang To Serve Questlove’s Drumsticks For One Night And One Night Only
Is there a fried chicken equivalent of burying the hatchet? (Burying the cleaver? Dredging the enmity in a mixture of flour and spices, then deep-frying until golden brown?) If there is, David Chang and Roots frontman Questlove have done it after their Twitter-and-television fight over who had the superior fried chicken.
Chang won after a blind taste test on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, but acknowledged that Quest’s chicken was truly formidable. As a result, for one night only, Momofuku Noodle Bar will be serving the renowned Love’s Drumsticks on May 20th.
Proceeds from the Momofuku/Quest Loves Food mashup will benefit the Food Bank of New York City, but reservations are closed (sad). However, walk-ins may be accepted! (Yay!) The lucky bastards who get in there will sample buttermilk chicken drumsticks with Creole seasoning, wrapped in origami paper hearts.
No word yet on when Questlove will fulfill the terms of the bet by doing dishes and standing outside Momofuku with a signboard, or if Chang has recanted his slanderous statement about Quest’s chicken being “weak like clock radio speakers.”
