WATCH: Food & Wine’s Wine Editor Confuses Kathie Lee With The Word ‘Macerated’

Food and Wine Magazine’s wine editor Ray Isle, also known as Kathie Lee and Hoda’s favorite human ever, stopped by The Today Show’s Fourth Hour for the world’s most useless segment: what to do with leftover champagne after New Year’s Eve. That, apparently, is a real question people ask themselves.

So, past the obligatory champagne toast, you can make cocktails — like a French 75 or a nice fruit punch — or you can macerate strawberries in it and serve it with ice cream for dessert.

“WHAT?” Kathie Lee screeched. “Strawberries WHAT?”

“Don’t use big words like that around here. It was confusing,” Hoda explained amidst Ray’s incessant repetition of the word “ma-cer-a-ted.”

“It’s a delightful, innocent dessert!” he insisted.

“I’m sure it is,” Kathie Lee fired back. “People are going to be macerating all over the country.”
