Seamus Mullen Beats Alex Stupak At Superburger; Advances To NYC’s Burger Bash
Rich people in The Hamptons do the darndest things. For example, host the semi-finals to New York Food and Wine Festival’s annual Burger Bash — a Montauk extravaganza formerly known as the Burger Bloodbath. This year, the likes of Seamus Mullen and Alex Stupak faced off to create the winning patty at Superburger 2012.
Stupak crafted a Mexican-themed burger with beans and chorizo as an homage to his two Manhattan taquerias. However, it failed to impress an esteemed panel of judges, which included Pat LaFrieda, Burger and Barrel’s Josh Capon, and Top Chef All-Star Spike Mendelsohn.
Mullen made an hamburguesa ligermente ahumada, which involved smoking every component of the burger, including the flour on the bun. Like we said, vacationing Hamptonites be crazy. He took home the trophy for best burger and is heading to the Burger Bash in October to try his luck on the big stage. Will he show up the likes of Michael Symon, winner of the last we-lost-track-of-how-many-years-running? Smoked flour is the answer to that question.
