New York’s 2nd Avenue Deli Retains Right to Sell ‘Instant Heart Attack’ Sandwich
Vegetable-hating New Yorkers, rejoice! The Heart Attack Grill lost its suit against the 2nd Avenue Deli, whose menu includes a sandwich named the “Instant Heart Attack”. The grill sued for copyright infringement, but lost after the judge decided that it was impossible for a customer to confuse the two restaurants or the two sandwiches. The judge also ruled that there is no chance of the deli copying any of the insane cheeseburgers the Heart Attack grill offers, as it is kosher.
The deli’s sandwich consists of two latkes stuffed with pastrami, corned beef, salami, or turkey, and at the end of the week, they will begin offering a “Triple Bypass” version of the sandwich, which will include a third latke. The Heart Attack Grill is infamous for its Double, Triple and Quadruple Bypass burgers, which are cooked in lard, and have actually caused two customers to go into cardiac arrest.
