Taco Bell Officially Launches Off-Menu Chipotle Mashup ‘The Quesarito’

On the heels of Taco Bell’s announcement that they’re testing Banh Mi sandwiches
comes the proclamation that they’re adding Quesaritos to the menu. A Quesarito is a burrito wrapped in a quesadilla and it’s allegedly performing better in test markets than any menu item since the Doritos Locos taco.

You can apparently request them as an off-menu item from certain benevolent Chipotle employees, too. And that’s fine. That sounds like some responsibly-sourced, ethically-raised stoner joytime. But swap out that barbacoa with Grade D dog meat better known as the “seasoned beef” at Taco Bell, and “the quesarito” becomes something you only have the self-loathing to order from a desolate strip mall on a very long road trip.

“We’re constantly hearing stories about two great things coming together to create something extraordinary and that takes on a life of its own,” said Taco Bell’s chief marketing officer Chris Brandt.

These stories are called food mash-ups, and they’re the bane of the food blogosphere’s existence. Look.

Remember kids: only you can prevent stunt foods.
