Not even a fortnight after The Braiser launched last year, we were subjected to the historic clusterfuck that was The Great Googa Mooga’s inaugural festival. Some of us casually waltzed in at 4pm on Sunday and had a jolly good time. Some of us spent 10 of Saturday’s 24 hours standing in the blazing hot sun, slowly starving to death. At a food festival. It was basically the culinary equivalent to the poop cruise.
VIP tickets were reimbursed; Twitter exploded with outcries of hatred; Ottavia Bourdain had to pee in a cup or something; Eddie Huang made fun of everybody because homeboy thrives on chaos. It was essentially the worst. Hey guys?
Let’s do it all again!
This year’s festival takes place, once more, in Prospect Park, the weekend of May 17-19. Free tickets (with food and beverage a la carte) will be “on sale” April 1-3. Tickets for selected events go on sale this Thursday at noon. We wouldn’t bet on getting that $250 back two years in a row, though, in case you were fantasizing about gaming the system again for kicks.
