Whoa: The Taste’s Premiere Scores ABC’s Highest Ratings In Two Years
Say what you will about creepy uncles and sexy Ludos and what have you: last night, America spoke with their Nielsen boxes, and The Taste completely owned their time slot during last night’s premiere.
According to TV By The Numbers, The Taste handily won the coveted Adult 18-49 demographic by double digits over its competitors, CBS (+27% — whoa!), Fox (+19% — not bad!), and NBC (+19% — duh).
But that is not all! Oh, no, that is not all:
ABC’s The Taste opened a strong #1 from 8-10pm among Adults 18-49, beating original comedy programming on Fox by 38% and NBC by 47%. In fact the new show ranked #1 in each half hour and gained young adult audience throughout its premiere. The Taste earned ABC’s strongest non-sports Adult 18-49 rating in the 2-hour slot since November – since 11/27/12.
And the most impressive stat:
Among Adults 18-49, The Taste is ABC’s top in-season unscripted debut in nearly 2 years and the 2nd highest on any net since The X-Factor opened in September 2011 – since 3/6/11 and 9/22/11, respectively.
Could The Taste be a serious contender to go after The Voice? Who says chefs aren’t celebrities?
