Tonight In Food TV: ‘How Can You Set Fire To A Trifle?’
There comes a point on every TV competition where none of the contestants can stand each other any more, and most of the episode consists of fighting and hilarious angry faces. On tonight’s Hell’s Kitchen and MasterChef, we’re reached that point.
On Hell’s Kitchen, it’s all rivalries, all the time. The two teams are competing in a dinner service for famous athletes, but can’t seem to stop fighting amongst themselves long enough to actually cook anything. In the midst of this, we get the sentence that every reality show competition is required to have, this time, spoken by Clemenza. All together, now: “I’m not here to make friends. I’m here to win.”
Then, on MasterChef, the judges announce that they are changing up the rules, sending the contestants into a tailspin. One contestant finds it particularly difficult, running around the kitchen in circles and burning a dessert that requires little to no cooking. Gordon Ramsay seems so exasperated by this that he doesn’t have an insult at the ready. There really is a first time for everything.
