Travel Channel Responds Icily To Anthony Bourdain’s Cadillac Rant

In case you missed the saga: The Travel Channel used Anthony Bourdain’s face to hawk Cadillacs without his consent. Bourdain saw this ad on the very last episode of No Reservations. He then nuked his relationship with the Travel Channel using an improvised explosive device made of a Tumblr post and some very legally binding language in his contract.

But the Travel Channel does not see it that way. The Travel Channel made Bourdain. The Travel Channel cannot stand to see its main star go to CNN without squeezing every last cent out of their former dancing travel monkey. The Travel Channel, therefore, sent this statement to The Hollywood Reporter, wrapped around a dead fish:

“We’ve enjoyed a long and mutually beneficial relationship with Tony and his production team, but his decision to make further remarks on this matter in the public domain is unfortunate.”

You broke their hearts, Tony. You broke their hearts. We advise you to avoid boats in the near future.

(PS: There’s still an entire season of The Layover to air. How awkward is that?)
