WATCH: Bourdain Goes Toe-To-Toe With Giuliani On Guantanamo, Supports Gun Culture

As part of his new CNN duties, Anthony Bourdain sat in on the round table on Anderson Cooper’s show AC360 to take on the international news of the week, along with a few special guests: Christiane Amanpour, Jeffery Toobin, Amy Holmes, and former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani.

While we’re glad to see that Bourdain’s debating skills are vastly improving, it’s not always easy when a former fry cook tries to take on a former U.S. Attorney General and Mayor with a well-earned reputation of admirable dickishness, especially on a topic like Guantanamo Bay:

More eyebrow-raising for the Liberal Elitists he supposedly panders to, however, is his suggestion that “gun culture” in America has real emotional significance for people who don’t live on the coasts, and that it’s crucial to resolving the gun debate. “Look, I’m a blue-state guy, but I’ve spent a lot of time in red-state Gun Country America, and I’ve spent a lot of time sitting down with people — at the end of the meal, you know, Mom opens up the safe, and there’s guns and handguns in there, and they all go back and shoot cans…it’s a culture where the presence of a weapon in a bar is not a threatening thing.”

And in the clips below, he gives his opinion on the general morale in Libya, as well as spars with Holmes on the Guantanamo Bay closure:
