We Got a Sugar High from Watching Artist Create ‘Marvelous Sugar Baby’ Installation
We know that like, sugar is real bad for you and stuff, but … sugar! Falling like fresh snow — if snow were sweet and made us bounce off the walls.
If you’re living in New York and, evidently, under a rock, there’s a massive sugar installation at the Domino Sugar Factory in Williamsburg. And yes, that’s a massive “sphinx-like” sculpture made of sugar-covered polystyrene. It’s a fascinating look at the factory (a huge riff in the Williamsburg community), art, race, and, uh, lots of sugar.
The Sugar Subtlety, and the coinciding project by artist Kara Walker, is in fact majestic. Get your sugar rush on from the video, from Art 21.
